A new Sonnet generation
Anthropic introduced Claude 3.5 Sonnet in June 2024, emphasizing improvements in coding and visual understanding. The release paired model capabilities with Artifacts, a workspace for viewing and iterating on generated material.
The broader signal was that a middle-tier model could become a serious option for tasks previously assigned to a provider's largest offering.
Evaluate the artifact, not the explanation
A model can describe an attractive interface while producing a layout with broken spacing or unusable controls. The actual file, rendered page, or working program is the deliverable. Review should happen at that level.
For teams producing marketing materials, the same rule applies: judge the exported asset against brand requirements, legibility, and intended dimensions. A persuasive explanation of the design does not resolve an incorrect logo or missing disclaimer.
Build an iteration test
Give the model an initial task, inspect the result, and then request a precise correction. Check whether it preserves the parts that were already right. Count review cycles and unintended changes alongside first-attempt quality. This reveals how a model behaves in real collaboration, where success usually depends on several edits rather than a single polished response.
