The Opus update

Anthropic introduced Claude Opus 4.6 on February 5, 2026. The announcement emphasized coding, longer agentic tasks, and professional work, and introduced a one-million-token context window in beta for the Opus class.

That context option expanded the amount of material a workflow could present, but did not remove the need to organize and verify it.

A project is more than a pile of files

Large codebases and document collections contain conflicting versions, incomplete notes, and assumptions that are no longer valid. A useful agent needs to identify which material is authoritative and what has already been accepted.

For enterprise teams, the project record should distinguish current requirements, background evidence, and proposals. This helps both a model and a human reviewer understand the task.

More context needs better organization. Collect Documents, images and project history. Select Remove obsolete or irrelevant material. Resolve Identify current rules and conflicting claims. Evaluate Check accuracy latency and usage.

Evaluate sustained correctness

Use a task that requires several dependent steps, then inspect the intermediate decisions as well as the final artifact. Include an interruption and a correction to an earlier assumption. Check whether the system updates downstream work consistently. A model with more context is valuable when it preserves the right information through a long task, rather than merely accepting a larger input.
