AI inside familiar applications
Apple introduced Apple Intelligence on June 10, 2024, describing features across iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The announcement combined on-device processing with Private Cloud Compute for more demanding work, and included writing and image-related experiences.
The industry implication was that AI could become part of existing system interactions instead of requiring users to visit a separate application for every task.
Integration changes expectations
When an assistant can work near a document or photograph, users expect the surrounding context to be available. That convenience makes boundaries important: the interface should make clear which information is used, where the result goes, and what the user is approving.
Enterprise teams also need to distinguish an announced feature from one available on their actual fleet. Device support, operating-system version, language, and rollout stage can affect a deployment plan.
Plan around the workflow
Choose a concrete employee task and map its current steps before evaluating an integrated AI feature. Measure whether the feature removes a handoff or merely adds another review surface. For creative work, preserve source files and revision history so that an automatically suggested edit can be compared with the original. The strongest integration is one whose benefits remain clear after the novelty wears off.
