The December API release
OpenAI released GPT-5.2 on December 11, 2025. The model supported configurable reasoning effort and text-and-image inputs, with an emphasis on professional work.
The release reinforced a practical shift: evaluating a model increasingly meant examining how it handled a complete task over time, not just one answer.
Context needs maintenance
A long project accumulates decisions, obsolete drafts, tool results, and unresolved questions. Keeping all of that material without structure can make it harder to identify the current requirement. Summaries and compaction can help, but they must preserve the facts that determine correctness.
For a campaign workflow, the latest approved product information should remain distinguishable from earlier ideas and rejected variants.
Test continuation, not only a fresh start
Pause a representative task after several steps and resume it with the intended context-management approach. Check whether the model preserves accepted decisions and identifies outstanding work. Inspect the actual artifact after completion, including formatting and factual details. The value of a longer-running model should appear in continuity and fewer corrections, rather than in the amount of conversation it can retain.
